Inspired in part by the formal language of the chaise lounge, Big Curve is made entirely of hard maple, which was chosen for its strength, durability, and abundance. It is a truly multi-functional piece of furniture, serving as a cabinet, bench, and table. The three drawers can be opened from either side and the inside of the drawer pulls are chamfered on the top and bottom to allow an ease of opening, as well as to leave the visible external form of the piece unobstructed.

Starting with the simplest of geometric bench forms, a single curve is introduced, adding new levels of functionality. As a result, a simple form appears ‘twisted’, and becomes a play on positive and negative space. Though there is only one curved element in the entire piece, that one curve is essential to its functional integrity.
