Hi! I'm Louie Rigano. I'm a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where I received a BFA in Industrial Design and Environmental Studies. I'm originally from New Jersey, though I have been awarded a Fulbright grant and in the Fall I will be studying and travelling in Japan for a year. My focus is on Japanese aesthetic tradition and its role in culture, design, and production. I believe: design should never be taken too seriously and always be well intentioned, sustainability should be second nature, and genius can come from the unexpected harmony of the spectacular and the practical. My work deals with pared down ideals. I seek a thoughtful and occasionally humorous meditation on contemporary notions of luxury, utility, and cultural values, conveyed by the most direct and simple means.
